Our office is located in the heart of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Regardless of your age, size, fitness level or condition, we tailor our treatment to you as an individual. We understand that patients expect the best care, an honest assessment and true concern for their health as well as an efficient means of receiving treatment. Our goal is to help you achieve your health care goals and an optimum quality of life. Our approach to your health care needs utilizes the world renowned Gonstead system. Modern chiropractic is a natural method of healthcare that does not use drugs or surgery, in contrast, the use of spinal adjustments, exercise and rehabilitation are used as a complete approach to patient care. The focus is on treating the causes, rather than just the symptoms. With a normally functioning spine, nervous system, and a healthy lifestyle, your body is better able to heal itself.
We are committed to providing the Tulsa area with quality chiropractic care for the whole family. Our primary goal is your health and helping you reach your full potential. In an ideal world, we would see a majority of our patients before they began hurting or became sick. For example, a dentist finding and fixing a cavity before it becomes a crater and painful. However, it is at that very point of pain and discomfort that most of our patients first come to see us. It is then up to the patient to decide what their goals are concerning their treatment. We can offer more than just superficial relief of pain. There are three types of treatments we provide and we always respect your personal and health goals by allowing you to make decision about which you would like.
1. Relief Care
Pain is often the last thing to show up and the first thing to leave. Initially, relief will come in the form of reducing inflammation and relieving pressure and irritation off of nerves.
Most people that walk into our office have that goal in mind, relief. This becomes our first objective and begins with these steps.
• Uncover the underlying cause of the problem
• Offer a plan of care to give you the best results in the shortest amount of time
• Suggest ways that the patient can participate and be active in their recovery
• Explain the value of post-symptomatic corrective and wellness care
If you had a rock in your shoe, this phase of care would be like the initial process of removing the rock, almost like chipping away at it, enough that it no longer hurts. Most conventional treatments would try to mask the symptoms with no real way of removing the rock.
2. Corrective Care
After the pain has subsided, most people assume that they are healed. However, this is not always the case. As stated earlier, pain can be the first thing to subside but the rock may not be completely gone. In fact, sometimes we learn to work around our problems just enough not to feel it and assume everything is ok. Corrective care consists of actually fixing the structural and biomechanical cause of your pain. The idea being to fully restore pain-free range of motion and normal biomechanical motion instead of learning to stay within those limits and comfort zone that let us work around the pain. In our rock in the shoe analogy, this phase of care would be like removing the rock completely, something that chiropractic care is specifically geared towards doing.
3. Wellness Care
Building on the corrective care, now is the time to strengthen and increase the flexibility in the newly restored full range of pain-free motion. No longer having to deal with pain and work around the problem, now you are able to prevent those problems. Feeling sick and having aches and pains is typically the main indicator for someone making the decision to see a doctor. We would like to see this change. We want to do everything we can to prevent these things from happening in the first place. This means being proactive when it comes to your health and abandoning the narrow-minded model of health care that is so prevalent today for a more complete care that actually addresses the cause. In our rock in the shoe analogy, this phase of care would be like keeping the rock out of the shoe and finding out why it got there in the first place so we can keep it from happening again.
You don’t have to receive all three phases of care. We are happy to help you reach your personal treatment goals, but remember, there are no shortcuts. It is possible to feel better and have residual structural problems that will affect you later, especially when our bodies are so good at adapting and working around pain. Regardless of your health goals, we know that you deserve proper care. It’s your body, your health and your future and our job is to offer you the finest chiropractic care possible. It’s up to you to decide how much you would like to invest in your health.
