I came across this the other day and thought it was pretty interesting. As the name implies this is a tour inside the human body. This website lets you peel back the layers, zoom, rotate and explore how your body is made up in a brand new way. If you are a visual learner, you might find a new love for anatomy.
With this browser you can isolate certain organ systems, individual organs and bones to get a better look at them. You are also able to zoom and rotate it in three dimensions. All the supporting structures remain visible to keep the context.
The browser allows you to turn specific labels on or off for different parts of the body as well. If you ever need to study for a test or just prepare for an appearance on Jeopardy and learn the name of the muscle that controls your little finger—it’s in there!
You can search too. If there comes a time that you can’t remember where the sciatic nerve is you can type it into the search box and it will be highlighted for you. Also, if we ever discuss certain muscles, bones or joints and you want to see them up close you can just look them up. It also might help you share the explanation of how we are helping you with your spouse or friends.
The only set back to this program is that it only seems to work on certain browsers or if you change the settings in one of the other browsers (I had to enable WebGL in safari to get it to work).
This is something I really would have enjoyed having when I was in my anatomy classes and I’ve had a lot of fun Interacting with this tool. If you have kids or friends in any type of human biology class, forward them this link so they’ll know about this great learning tool.
Have fun exploring Zygote Body Browser on your own.
