Did you know that we live our life through our nervous system? When our nervous system is functioning better, we have a better life. It’s that simple. The way we see, touch, hear, move, it all comes from our nervous system. Because of our nervous system, we are able to digest our food, appreciate a beautiful sunset, or laugh when we hear a funny joke; our nervous system allows us to experience life. However, if there is interference with the function of your nervous system, you may not be able to live life to the fullest.
What does it mean to be healthy
If you were to ask someone, “How do you know if you’re healthy?” you will likely hear answers that mention having a lot of energy, or simply, “I just feel good” and more commonly, “because I never get sick.” People don’t typically equate their health to how their body is truly functioning. When our bodies and all of the different parts are working like they were designed to, this is what true health is.
A good way to look at this is instead of thinking of the word health, think about having a sense of ease. If you have ease, which is the opposite of dis-ease, then consider yourself to have health. If there is a lack of ease, you’re experiencing dis-ease, and chances are, your nervous system and the different parts of your body are not functioning as it was all meant to.
How chiropractic care can help
The same reason a bulging or herniated disc can put pressure on a nerve and cause pain is the same reason a subluxation, or dysfunction within the spinal joints, can create the same kind of pressure and interference with the nerves and nervous system. Restoring proper function to these joints and ensuring that your nervous system is free of interference through chiropractic care can help you feel great. Many patients of ours also report improvements like:
- Reduced back and neck pain
- Enhanced immune system
- Improved range of motion
- Increased function
- Heightened energy and mood
